Thanks to a respected colleague, NF found an interesting magazine "Entertaining England" on the net, whose articles, I think, will be of interest to colleagues.
Some of you may have read Eduard Uspensky's horror story Red Hand, Black Sheet, Green Fingers. It was published in Pioneer magazine in 1990. The story is really creepy: after reading it, I was afraid to go to the bathroom at night for several days. I was then 12 years old. To be honest, I don’t remember the plot, but very vivid images are preserved in my mind: a red spot on the wall, from where from time to time a red hand comes out that strangles a child, or green eyes “running” along the wall, which also somehow children are killed. This work has nothing to do with England. However, there is something about it that resonates with the story I want to tell.
