Dr. Terrible Music Blog

Independent American short comedy musical film originally produced exclusively for free distribution over the Internet (web series). The film tells the story of a young guy named William (Billy), who, under the alias Dr. Horrible, is trying to become a great supervillain, as well as his nemesis Captain Hammer and Penny's secret love. .penny).

The film was created with his own money by director Joss Whedon, screenwriter Zack Whedon and composer Jed Whedon (brothers), as well as Maurissa Tancherone Whedon (wife of Jed Whedon). The film consists of three 15-minute parts.
First act[edit | edit wiki text]

Billy, in the form of Doctor Terrible, is filming another part of his video blog, describing his plans and answering letters from viewers. Responding to another letter, Billy, plunging into memories, reveals his secret beloved Penny, with whom he is afraid to speak.

Billy's memories are interrupted by the arrival of his friend and henchman Wet, who brings him mail. Among the correspondence is a letter from Bad Horse, the head of the Evil League of Evil that Billy wants to be in. The letter informs Doctor Terrible that his application to join the ZLZ has been considered and that he is required to commit a show crime in order to join. Billy decides to capture the material needed to create the time-stopping beam - miraculous.

Although Billy eventually succeeds in capturing the Wonderfloni, his actions cause Penny to start dating Captain Hammer.
Second act[edit | edit wiki text]

Billy is secretly spying on Penny and Captain Hammer's dates, singing "My Eyes" about how terrible the world is. The song is echoed by Penny, but where Billy sees a reason to be angry, Penny sees a reason for hope and an opportunity to make the world a better place. Listening to Penny, Captain Hammer agrees with the girl, but it is obvious to the viewer that he is more interested in himself than in the problems of the world.

At the same time, a friendship develops between Billy and Penny and they chat a lot during meetings at the laundry.

On his blog, Doctor Terrible reveals that he has finished assembling the Freeze Beam and promises to use it the next day. In the next entry, we learn that Dr. Terrible's plans have failed, as Captain Hammer and the LAPD also happen to be watching his vlog. Doctor Terrible receives a phone call from Bad Horse, telling him that the public failure of the showcase atrocity can only be compensated for by committing murder. The call, like the letter, is voiced by the Bad Horse Chorus (Reprise). Billy is not ready for such a turn of events - he clearly does not want to become a killer, but he does not intend to refuse a place in the ZLZ either.
