Blog Rating
Igor Ashmanov: Due to bloggers, Yandex was heavily flattened from above
A popular search engine closes the rating of blogs. The Internet community is divided: an attack on freedom of speech or not
dm-lihachev, blogger:
- I've been blogging since the beginning of 2001, when there were no Yandex tops yet, and there were several dozen bloggers, not several tens of millions, as it is now;)
At m.v. the Yandex top has greatly spoiled the blogosphere and corrupted bloggers - in much the same way as Yandex news - greatly spoiled and corrupted all news resources.
The principle of damage is about the same here and there - when a certain top appears, from which thousands of readers come to you - then, no matter how morally stable you are, it affects you, you start thinking about it, your blog (or your news) become, volens-nevolens, participants in some online game in which you can either “win” (get into this top, or into the main story of Yandex news) and receive your bonuses in the form of thousands of readers - well, or - “lose”.
And winning is not that hard. You shouldn’t write very original and orthogonal news to everyone - it still won’t fall into any plot and won’t “win”, but it’s worth writing not very original, here are the top 5 news that are on the face of Yandex, they are “winning”, here and all the newsmen from all the media procrastinate them, they play this lottery .. And instead of a natural and wide news picture, we get a very narrowed one and stuffed with spam and rewrites.
And with the top blogs - the same song - to "win" and get into the top you need links and comments - both are easy to organize artificially, or provoke people .. And voila, you "won", you got your minute of fame, and you are no longer interested in just writing something interesting for your friends - you are already a player, not a blogger.
So, theoretically, I would probably be in favor of shutting down Yandex tops, and Yandex news too;) I rarely looked into them, and the top blogger was more a minus than a plus for me, but ...
With all that wild number of cheaters and spammers, optimizers and lovers of cheap tricks - this top - it was almost the last Gulya Pole on our internets, where our ordinary ordinary Soviet people, and not specially trained editors with a license - could publish something of their own, human, not licked by editors and censorship.
